About Us

 

1984 - Dressmen Limited established as a partnership business and opens it doors for business with 60 machines and 150 workers under a project loan from Pubali Bank Ltd. Trial production through subcontracting commences and continues till early 1985.

 

1985 - Under Quota Category 340, 2000 dozens of CVC Oxford shirt is exported in March 1985 and leads the way for further business opportunities. Company experiments with variety of items such as boxer shorts, wind cheaters, ladies blouses and casual shirts.

 

1987 - With substantial business growth possibilities first step of expansion takes place through the acquisition of Posh Garments Ltd (PGL). PGL continues to run as an independent entity specializing in ladies blouse production dedicated to C&A Gmbh.(Germany).

 

1990 - Dressmen signs a joint venture agreement with Bondiel Limited (Hong Kong) to act as their sole agent in Bangladesh sourcing various knit and woven garments from Bangladesh. Business focused shifted more on sourcing and less on manufacturing.

 

1998 - Saw a return in focus for further manufacturing capabilities and as a result Dressmen Apparels Limited was established with the intention of producing pajama sets and boxer shorts.

 

2002 - Our third international standard factory Dressmen Garments Limited was established with the intention of producing dress shirts. The factory was established in our own facility in Chandra, Kaliakoir (Gazipur District).

 

2006 - We shifted our non-compliant units Dressmen Limited and Dressmen Apparels Limited to our facility in Gazipur with the intention of running at compliant facilities with focus on worker welfare and safety.

 

2009 - Our fourth international standard factory Dressmen Garments Limited (UNIT 2) was established with the intention of producing dress shirts.

 

2010 - Our fifth international standard factory Dressmen Limited (UNIT 2) was established with the intention of producing dress shirts.

 

2011 - Our sixth international standard factory Dressmen Fashion-wear Limited was established with the intention of producing sport shirts and ladies wear. Our own embroidery plant Dressmen Embroidery Limited was established to cater in house requirements as well as to support LEVI and CHAPS vendors. Salaar Clothing Limited was also established in the same year to support a North American based buying company.

BGMEA donates Tk 25 lakh and warm clothes to PMs relief fund.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) donated Tk 25 lakh and 10,000 blankets, 5,000 pieces of sweater to the relief fund of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her secretariat office on Thursday afternoon, as many poor people suffered from chilling cold.

The country's apparel sector has to live up to the challenges of changing global scenario in order to sustain its growth, a garment sector leader has said. "Buyers want diversity in products and regulatory and environmental compliance. They are monitoring us and if we fail to keep up we cannot sustain our growth," said Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
